Consent Policy

Use it openly
CORE MDM is powerful: as device owner it can lock, wipe, restrict and filter a phone. It exists to help people manage devices they're responsible for — openly, with the knowledge of the people who use them. It is not a tool for secretly watching, deceiving or controlling anyone.
Before you enroll a device
- Ownership or authority. Only enroll devices you own or are lawfully authorized to manage.
- Inform the user. Tell the person who uses the device that it's managed with CORE MDM, and broadly what that means (that rules can be applied, and the device can be located, locked or wiped). Where the law requires it, obtain their consent and keep a record.
- Follow the law. Rules on managing someone else's device, monitoring and employee/student devices vary by place. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you.
Special situations
Children. A parent or guardian may manage a minor's device. Be age-appropriate and honest about what's in place.
Employees. Managing a worker's device should be disclosed in writing (for example, an acceptable-use or device policy) and limited to what's necessary and lawful.
Schools. Managing a student's device should follow your institution's policies and applicable education and privacy laws, with guardians informed where required.
Shared or handed-over devices. If a managed device changes hands, update or remove management so the new user isn't managed without their knowledge.
What's not allowed
Do not use CORE MDM to monitor a partner, family member or anyone else without their knowledge, to manage a device you have no right to, or to harass, stalk, deceive or harm. Covert use is a violation of these principles and of our Terms of Service.
Transparency built in
CORE MDM shows a persistent notification while its background service runs, the app reports its device-owner status on its own screen, and it manages what a device can do rather than collecting personal content (see the Privacy Policy). These are there to keep management visible, not hidden.
Provided for a beta, open-source project; not legal advice. You are responsible for lawful, transparent use.
